About Us
The Illinois Venezuelan Alliance (IVA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Venezuelan immigrants and families across Illinois. We provide education, cultural programming, and community support, and pathways to economic stability, all while celebrating the rich heritage of the Venezuelan community. We are entering an exciting period of growth and seeking a visionary, relationship-driven Executive Director to lead us into our next chapter.
The Opportunity
IVA’s Executive Director will serve as the organization’s strategic and operational leader. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a rapidly expanding nonprofit that plays a key role in supporting newcomer families across Illinois. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), collaborative, mission-driven leader who thrives in a community-centered work and is ready to grow a small organization into a strong, sustainable institution.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Expand and strengthen IVA’s programs that support Venezuelan families, cultural initiatives, youth development, and resource navigation.
Build and manage partnerships with schools, state agencies, donors, funders, and community organizations.
Lead fundraising, grant development, and donor stewardship to expand organizational resources.
Oversee day-to-day operations, budgeting, and compliance.
Recruit, guide, and inspire staff and volunteers to foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
Serve as IVA’s public ambassador, elevating the mission and advocating for the Venezuelan community.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, education, social services, or community organizations.
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships, manage programs, and mobilize resources.
Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Broad knowledge and understanding of the Venezuelan socioeconomic and humanitarian crisis
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or development preferred.
Passion for immigrant advocacy, community empowerment, and cultural preservation with a focus on the Venezuelan community.
Preferably, the candidate should be a resident of Illinois and have extensive knowledge of Chicagoland communities.
